What is the biggest known animal?

The blue whales is the largest known animalThe biggest known animal is not a dinosaur. The blue whale can reach up to 29.9 metres (98 ft) in length and has a maximum recorded weight of 173 tonnes. It is the biggest animal that has ever existed.

Blue whales were once plentiful in all oceans. However, their use as a source of food, oil, and cosmetics resulted in organised global hunting by whaling fleets. As a result the blue whale was hunted to the brink of extinction during the twentieth century.

In typical human fashion, the practice of hunting the blue whale ceased once there was no way to avoid acknowledging the damage done.

Thanks to its size, the blue whale holds several records. A blue whale’s tongue weighs around 2.7 tonnes. The mouth is large enough to hold up to 90 tonnes of food and water. The heart of an average-sized blue whale weighs 180 kg (400 pounds) and is the largest known in any animal.

Finally, blue whale penis is the largest penis of any living organism. Researchers claim an average length of 2.4 to 3.0 m (8 to 10 ft).

So, yeah, the blue whale is a bloody big animal.
